Angleton Independent School District is the high performer of Brazoria County.
The Texas Education Agency released the ratings for the 2006-2007 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills today, and Angleton ISD received the coveted rating of Recognized.
“This is the first time that Angleton ISD has received this recognition since the TAKS test was implemented,” AISD Superintendent Dr. Heath Burns said. “Most Angleton ISD campuses earned one of the two highest state ratings for the last several years; however, reaching this rating at the district level is an outstanding and rare accomplishment of which our whole community should take great pride.”
Angleton ISD is a large and diverse district, and few districts of its size reach the recognized rating. Burns attributes his district’s success to the hard work put forth year-round by Angleton students and faculty.
“Our students work hard, and our teachers adapt and adjust throughout the school year to ensure that their students are mastering the curriculum mandated by the state. Angleton ISD students will always have the resources and support available to reach their full potential.”
School districts are placed into four categories: exemplary, recognized, acceptable, and academically unacceptable. With no area schools reaching the exemplary status, Angleton ISD tops the charts in the greater Houston area.
“Angleton ISD is an elite district,” Burns said. “We continue to raise the bar for ourselves and our peers.”
